Our Mission
Proclaiming the good news of God's Kingdom and cultivating a community of faith, hope, and love in Langley, British Columbia.
Proclaiming the Good News
At the heart of everything the Walnut Grove Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses does is a single, enduring mission: to share the good news of God's Kingdom as revealed in the Bible and to help people of every background, age, and life experience build a meaningful relationship with Jehovah God.
This mission is not the product of human tradition or institutional ambition. It is rooted in the commission Jesus Christ gave to his followers: "Go, therefore, and make disciples of people of all the nations, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19, 20) It is a mission of love — offered freely, without pressure, and without charge.
What Our Mission Looks Like in Practice
Every week, members of our congregation engage their neighbours throughout Langley and the wider Fraser Valley, offering free Bible literature, personal conversations, and invitations to attend our open meetings. We believe that access to accurate knowledge of the Bible is one of the most meaningful gifts a community can offer — and we are committed to making that accessible to all.
Our congregation also participates in a broader global network of over eight million Jehovah's Witnesses in more than 240 lands who carry out the same mission. Resources, publications, and educational programs are available in over 1,000 languages through JW.org, ensuring that no language barrier stands in the way of someone seeking answers.
A Mission of Service
Our mission extends beyond spiritual education. Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide are known for rapid, coordinated disaster relief efforts, with thousands of volunteers mobilized to help communities rebuild after floods, fires, and other crises. Locally, our congregation members serve their neighbours with practical acts of kindness, support, and encouragement — because we believe that true faith is always expressed in action.
We serve without expectation. Our meetings are free. Our literature is free. Our time is offered willingly. The only thing we ask is that those who come with open hearts leave with something of real value: hope grounded in truth.
Living the Mission Every Day
Mission, for our congregation, is not confined to scheduled programs or formal outreach activities. Each member strives to reflect the values of God's Kingdom — honesty, compassion, integrity, and peace — in their workplace, their homes, and their daily interactions with the Langley community.
This daily witness is perhaps the most powerful expression of our mission. When a neighbour observes a congregation member responding to adversity with calm faith, or sees a family nurturing their children with enduring values, the mission is alive and at work.
An Open Invitation
If you are curious about what we believe, what our meetings involve, or simply want to have a conversation about the Bible — we warmly invite you. No commitment, no obligation, no prior religious background required. Our doors are open, and our congregation is ready to welcome you.
